A lot of people wonder, and often ask, what time is the best time to visit Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan. The simple answer is, any time of the year is a great time to visit!
The longer answer is, it really depends on what you’re hoping for during your visit. Let’s take a moment to explore some of the different times of the year and what people come to enjoy:
- Winter – Winters are generally relatively mild, but it air temperatures can vary from the 40s up into the 70s. Nights are generally very cool, but daytime temperatures are often very comfortable and it is often sunny. One of the most beautiful things about this time of year is the lack of people on the beach. You can expect to see the locals just taking their daily morning or afternoon strolls on an otherwise very quiet beach. This is also a great time of year to go shell hunting. It is a very serene, calming time of year, at the beach. Grab a book, relax on the sand and relax on what feels like just about your own personal stretch of beach.
- Spring – Spring is a beautiful time of year with temperatures rising, more sun, and water temperatures inching up into the comfortable range towards the end of the spring. Expect to see the beaches get a little more busy as families take the opportunity to enjoy spring break at the beach. It is a beautiful time of year before the real busy season hits.
- Summer – Summer is obviously the height of the tourist season, so expect it to be busy. But this is one of the benefits of Serenity on the Shore being located in the Fort Morgan area and not in the busier Orange Beach or Gulf Shores Beach zones. While there will still be a lot of people, it is nowhere near what you’ll find in town. Water temperatures are generally mid-to-upper 80s and air temperatures will be in the 80s and 90s. Bring lots of sunblock to enjoy long days on the beach and in the water!
- Fall – Fall is easily our favorite time of the year to visit. The tourist season has largely ended, beaches are less crowded, and temperatures are absolutely perfect. The water typically remains in the mid-to-low 80s well into October, with air temperatures often still in the 80s as well. It is a great time to enjoy the sun and play in the water, with far fewer people on the beach.
The reality is, any time is special at the beach and the weather is generally very good all year. If you want to relax and take a break from the world, try visiting in fall or winter. If you want to really enjoy fun in the sun and splashing in the water, late spring and summer is your time to visit!
